LYDENBURG – A truck collision took place on the Long Tom Pass on Wednesday which led to only one lane being accessible for more than an hour.
This followed after no less than four Chrome trucks and a delivery truck collided on this pass during extremely misty conditions.

The accident happened about 20 kilometres out of town just before Hops Hollow Brewery. On route to the accident scene, the newspaper passed no less than 60 trucks in less than a 20 kilometres stretch of road.
This means that in less than 15 minutes, there were 30 Ore trucks per 10 kilometres.
According to Deon Broekman of Rapid Response, the cause of the accident is said to be on account of a bakkie, which braked sharply in front of the line of trucks making their way up the pass.
No serious injuries were reported and the road was reopened. By the time of online print, traffic was back to normal.
