Mashamothane man sentenced to 26 years imprisonment

BURGERSFORT – The Polokwane High Court has sentenced Steve Mohlala (33) to an effective 26 years’ imprisonment for murder and unlawful possession of ammunition recently. Mohlala from Ga Mashamothane Village was arrested in 2016 for the murder of a Somali national Abdulle Muhammed Ali.

Ali was found lying in a pool of blood after he was shot twice at his tuck shop back on November 11, 2016.

Tubatse SAPS arrested Mohlala a few days after the crime.The murder was committed at Mahlakwane Tuckshop in Mashamothane Zone 8 at about 19:00.

Mohlala was sentenced to 16 years for murder and 10 years for unlawful possession of ammunition. The station commander for Tubatse SAPS Brig Angelina Maloma welcomed the heavy sentence handed to the murderer.

“We applaud the investigating team which were involved in the case. They ensured the perpetrator is removed from our community indefinitely. Tubatse is minus one murderer now.”
