Taxi drivers encouraged to dress in formal clothing

"We have agreed that drivers from all taxi associations operating in the town will dress in formal clothes every Friday. This will ensure that they are all neat, as there is a perception that most of them are untidy."

BURGERSFORT – Taxi drivers in and around Burgersfort will soon be seen in formal clothing.

This is according to Malose Joe Modisha, the national media taxi coordinator. Modisha visited Burgersfort last Friday encouraging the drivers to be neat and tidy.

“We have agreed that drivers from all taxi associations operating in the town will dress in formal clothes every Friday. This will ensure that they are all neat, as there is a perception that most of them are untidy.”

He said they have also advised them to clean their cars. “Cleanliness is next to godliness. Commuters want to cruise in clean cars. This new initiative will encourage some drivers to stop neglecting themselves.”

One of the Eastern Leolo’s local drivers, Thulani Makofane, said he was happy about the new dress code, because they have been disrespected by many commuters.

“At least we look like those working in an office. We are also business people. We promise to always dress correctly. Neglect starts like an infection. If you do not take care of it, it becomes a disease,” he quipped.

Modisha visited the Eastern Leolo, Druta and the Greater Tubatse Internal Transport taxi ranks.
