Resurfaced pothole welcomes tourists to town

LYDENBURG – Less than a year since a pothole the size of a pool was repaired by Thaba Chweu Local Municipality (TCLM) and Glencore Smelter, the hole has once again resurfaced.

The main intersection of Voortrekker and Viljoen Streets is the centre point for entering the town. For months on end, this humungous pothole forced drivers to swerve out into oncoming traffic to avoid driving through the hole until it was repaired last year March.

The repairs, however, lasted about ten months and instead of maintaining the repairs, it has once again grown into a huge ditch surrounded by smaller eroded potholes.

The stormwater drain where pedestrians are supposed to walk has also been left unopened and pose a huge risk to an unsuspecting footslogger.
Residents are once again fed up with the condition of the intersection and the lack of maintenance thereof.
