Chinese based artist donates to local school

African Chinese, is a local artist, vocalist who hails from Tubatse and works in China. She grew up in Tubatse and wishes to see locals succeeding.

BURGERSFORT – She spend most of her time hustling  in Asia, but local artist African Chinese has not forgotten her roots. In honouring the Mandela Legacy, African Chinese, an upcoming artist, known to many as Jennifer Mahlo handed gifts to the local schools. Steelburger/Lydenburg News caught up with the team at Moukangoe Secondary school in Ga Motodi, they handed sanitary towels and deodorants to more than 50 pupils at the school.

 

Speaking to the grade 12s, marketing manager, and promoter for African Chinese Katlego “Stumbo” Moraba said learners needed to put much efforts into their education.

He said the artist decided to assist following the release of shocking statistics of schoolgirls who could not afford sanitary pads. “Thirty per cent of South African schoolgirls miss school because they can’t afford sanitary pads, so we wanted to change that by making a difference in our community.”

Moraba said pupils need to aim and dream big, “After passing your matric, don’t go to tertiary institutions just to add numbers. Choose proper friends, because some will lead you astray. Focus on your studies complete your qualification and be a good example to the locals.”
