Accused sentenced in the Modikwa Mine’s bus attack

Moime was sentenced by the Polokwane High Court on Monday September 30. He pleaded guilty to all six counts of murder and 48 counts of attempted murder.

BURGERSFORT – One of four accused in the violent murders of Modikwa Platinum Mine’s workers has been handed a hefty sentence. Six miners were killed when the bus transporting them to work was petrol bombed back on April,2 2018.

Kgaugelo Moime (30) was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for each count of six murders and 10 years imprisonment for each count of 48 attempted murders. He was sentenced to a total of 630 years imprisonment.

The other three accused, Sipho Khumalo (29), Philemon Makwana (35), and Thabo Mokgala (29) will have their trial in April 2020.
