Steelpoort runs for women’s rights

As part of Women's Month celebrations, Tshepang Community Services recently hosted a 10-kilometre fun walk and fun run at Longtill.

More than 100 women participated.

Organiser, Julia Mashilangwako, told Steelburger/Lydenburg News they intended to raise awareness of the negative impact that violence and abuse have on women and children.

“Our organisation wishes to curb challenges faced by women in this country. We chose a fun walk to encourage a healthy lifestyle for women. We thank all the men and youth who joined in supporting the walk.”

The participants received medals for their participation. The walk started from Longtill and ended at Lannex on the R555. The organisers are planning to have the walk annually.
