BURGERSFORT – Pupils at Mafemane Primary School in Manoke village celebrated Heritage Day with style and glamour.

They enjoyed extramural activities such as singing, poetry and dancing. They were all dressed in traditional wear to celebrate their heritage. To encourage the pupils and to bring the best out of them, the principal, Ben Langa, donated a trophy for the best groups.

Pogisho Gaobuse received his prize from educator Ouma Magabe.

“It was a beautiful day and all learners from grade R to grade 7 showed their talents. The trophy was won by the Soul Buddyz (a dancing group). Their attire and traditional dance demonstrated the eSwatini history of izintombi-nto,” said teacher, Rufus Mohlanga.

The second spot prize was won by a grade 5 poet, Pogisho Gaobuse. In his poem, he praised the work done by the teachers for educating the nation.

Pogisho was quoted in his poem, saying, “They appease you by calling your profession a calling, but the salary is uncalled for.” His poem concluded with this question: “Who will fight for you, my poor teachers?”

The third price went to the grade 7 class for their energetic rendition of the traditional Kiba dance.
