During the September school holiday, Hoërskool Bergvlam had the privilege of sending one of their pupils to the national Eskom Expo, held last Tuesday to Friday at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.
Lunga Nkosi, grade 10 learner at Bergvlam, has been attending the national Eskom Expo for three years running, and received her first gold medal this year. She previously obtained three regional gold medals since grade eight. At this year’s competition, Lunga received a R750 cash prize and the best project in her category at regional and national levels.

What makes her achievement even more noteworthy is that Lunga was selected from 35 expo regions who compete nationally, to pit her science knowledge and skills against young scientists from around the world.
