NPO brings a spark to youth education

"This will assist in creating jobs for the youth. Currently 10 locals are learning from Xaba's expertise and they will soon manufacture their own devices."

BURGERSFORT – Sboniso Youth Care Centre (SYCC), a local non-profit organisation, is eager to assist the youth to improve their manufacturing and electronic skills. They aim to encourage the youth to work more with their hands in the field of electronic communications systems.

The organisation acquired the services of an electronic expert, Solomon Xaba, who is teaching the youth in and around Driekop to manufacture their own radio headsets as well as television sets.

I had been working with youths from all corners of the country. I am impressed with the talent and hard work shown by the youth in Burgersfort. We are on the verge of completing our first television as well as radio courses,” said this programme director and facilitator.

Ally Shiburi of SYCC said the skills and support rendered by Xaba is taking youths off the streets.

“This will assist in creating jobs for the youth. Currently 10 locals are learning from Xaba’s expertise and they will soon manufacture their own devices.”

Shiburi said they are experiencing challenges as they do not have funds to buy some of the components and equipment to produce their final products.

He appealed to local business and government departments to help in donating equipment and funds. SYCC is based at Ga Madiseng village, and can be contacted on 060-900-5435 or at sbonisoyouthcc@yahoo.com.

SYCC has been working with Xaba since the start of August.
