BURGERSFORT – The pothole-ridden D2537 is being patched by the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure. This road is a concern to motorists in Tubatse.
MEC Monicca Mochadi has launched “Operation Thiba Potholes”, which is designed to fix potholes in the province. The operation kick-started at the old Penge route last Thursday.
Mochadi said embarking on the exercise serves to ensure what her department announced during the 2019/20 budget vote is now happening on the ground.

“This is also in preparation for the festive season, which requires roads to be completed, of good quality, and in good condition,” she commented.

She said this would help to ease traffic flow and prevent unnecessary loss of lives due to accidents.
She stated her department has declared war against potholes. “Every road with potholes across the province will be attended to.”
Mochadi revealed that it is their wish for all potholes to be repaired, but that the department was facing serious budgetary constraints.”We however, care about people’s lives and we believe through this operation, many lives can be saved.”

Meanwhile several residents on social media have attacked the department, insisting the D2537 needs to be reconstructed from scratch.
“I am surprised they are using clay and sand in repairing the potholes. This road needs to be done from scratch. They have been fixing it, and after few weeks, it will be damaged again,” alleged a resident, Leshilo Pilusa.
