WARNING: Zero tolerance for fireworks offenders

Rooikatpark has been delisted as a fireworks offset point.

LYDENBURG – Lydenburg SAPS is warning residents and fireworks distributers that they will act stringently against the illegal offset and selling these pyrotechnics.

Capt. Alfred Moela, communication manager at Lydenburg SAPS, said that several arrests have already been made for the illegal trading of fireworks.

”The offset thereof will be no different. No fireworks may be ignited in residential areas. A person caught ignoring this regulation will be either jailed or heavily fined.”

He continued to urge residents to also keep such explosives away from children.

No fireworks will be permitted in town. The only designated place for these displays with a loud sound is about three kilometres out of town on the Long Tom Pass.
