“The incident happened at Riverside Village on Sunday, when the accused and his son (25) allegedly engaged in a fight that resulted in both being taken to casualty for injuries sustained,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesman, Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.

Mojapelo said, according to the information received, the suspect was busy assaulting his wife, allegedly over another woman, when his son (25) tried to intervene.

He then turned on him and the son allegedly fought back by stabbing his father with a sharp object. The two men sustained injuries that required medical treatment and both went to the hospital separately.

“While in the casualty ward, another argument allegedly broke out. Suddenly, the suspect removed the drips, went to his vehicle and when he came back to the ward, he allegedly shot his son and wife, critically injuring them. The other woman, who was the cause of the argument between Mankge and his wife, was at the hospital when the second altercation occurred. She was not involved during the shooting,” added Mojapelo.

He said Mankge later handed himself over to the police. His licensed firearm was confiscated and the process of declaring him unfit to possess a firearm has already commenced.

The mother and her son have since been admitted to the same hospital, the mother is still in a critical condition. Investigations in this matter continue.
