Onderbergers walk for pangolin awareness
Next February the Lowveld will host a big #running4pangolin

Last week, countries all over the world participated in the #running4pangolin awareness campaign and Marloth residents joined in.

Under the initiative of Lana Rousseau, a property owner in Marloth, with the assistance of Deidre Joubert of Wild and Free Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release, Sanet Bruins Liesch of the Marloth Park Property Owners Association, Alta Triegardt of Pam Golding, and Adele Reynders, writer and artist, a successful fun walk was organised.
Close on 60 people arrived at the starting point next to the river on a magnificent morning in Marloth for the five-kilometre trail.

The local Community Policing Forum was present to assure that there were no lions on the trail.
The youngest participant was Josh Welthagen (4), who run most of the five kilometres.

A big hearted participant even did his walk with a huge plastic bag to collect rubbish on the trail.
Although it was a lot of fun, extensive awareness was created globally to stop the poaching of this amazing endangered animal. They are the most trafficked wildlife species on earth and are poached for their scales and body parts to be used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Visit Pangolin.Africa on Facebook to learn more about the pangolin and how to get involved in this pangolin awareness and rescue drive.

Next February, the Lowveld will be a big ‘running4pangolin’ hub and the organisers hope to have no less than 300 participants. Diarise this date now and look out on social media for more information.
