Non-essential shut down during lockdown at TCLM

The closure of the municipal offices will be effective from 14:00 on Wednesday March 25. Themba Sibiya, communications manager of TCLM, said cashiers will only be available to receive payments from April 1 to 3.

In response to the 21-day lockdown announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, Thaba Chweu Local Municipality (TCLM) will also close all non-essential services.

The closure of the municipal offices will be effective from 14:00 on Wednesday March 25.
Themba Sibiya, communications manager of TCLM, said cashiers will only be available to receive payments from April 1 to 3.

“The following essential services will, however, continue: electricity, water and sanitation. These include electricians, plumbers and superintendents, senior process controllers and process controllers, waste removal, parks and the cemetery, traffic and disaster management, as well as by-law enforcement.”

Sibiya said TCLM would like to encourage the payment of services through electronic banking to avoid unnecessary movement.

“We urge our community members to abide by the directive of the president to stay at home during the lockdown and remain steadfast in prayer during these trying times.”
