Pick n Pay now offers drive-through shopping

A first for this town, Pick n Pay in Kantoor Street now accepts WhatsApp and email orders to ensure that customers can buy essential items from the comfort and safety of their homes.

LYDENBURG – In another bid to assist in combatting the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, a local supermarket is now offering a drive-through service.

A first for this town, Pick n Pay in Kantoor Street now accepts WhatsApp and email orders to ensure that customers can buy essential items from the comfort and safety of their homes.

Jacobus Pretorius of Pick n Pay told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that this initiative was introduced after several residents requested such a service in town.

“We launched the drive-through shopping to assist those customers that did not want to come into the store to shop and would prefer the convenience of having their order packed and ready for them to just collect.”

Pretorius said this initiative was launched early this week. “We accept WhatsApp and email orders. Orders should be in by 09:00 for same-day collection. Once received, we will process the order and advise the customer on collection time. They then park in the designated parking zone.”

In the parking lot, an employee will then deliver your order straight to your vehicle. Payment is made via card machine and no cash will be accepted.

“The service is offered free of charge and is available weekdays between 09:00 and 15:00.”

Customers can WhatsApp or email their order, including their name, contact details, Smart Shopper number, as well as the required collection date and time.

Anyone can make use of this initiative and help keep the town safe. To place an order, simply WhatsApp it to 067-011-3108 or email shop@pnplydenburg.co.za.

The service only applies to essential goods as set out in the national regulations.
