More than twenty people arrested for not wearing masks

Three of them were arrested for using a fake  sanitizer at their shops, while the rest were arrested for walking in public spaces without wearing masks.

JANE FURSE –  Traffic officials and the SAPS arrested thirty-two people for violating the national disaster management regulations in the CBD this afternoon.

Three of them were arrested for using a fake  sanitizer at their shops, while the rest were arrested for walking in public spaces without wearing masks.

The SAPS arrested 32 suspects.

Sekhukhune District Municipality ‘s executive mayor Stan  Ramaila said he is worried by a few members of the public who don’t comply with the Covid-19 regulations.

Ramaila visited Jane Furse along with mayors of local municipalities, as members of the District Command Council that he chairs, did a walk
about with law enforcement officers in the small town to ensure there’s compliance with regulations regarding Level-4.

Traffic officials arrested those who were not wearing their mask.

“What we noticed was that all the elderly people we came across with were wearing masks.

“All of those who were arrested for not wearing masks are young people, so this tells you that generally people are aware of the fact that it’s compulsory to wear a mask when in public spaces, we’re just dealing with a few young people who’re carelessly defiant. But they’ll face full might of the law,” says  Ramaila.

Traffic officials assisted in arresting the suspects.

Ramaila reiterated that it’s compulsory to wear a mask when in public spaces.

He emphasizes that even during Level-4, people should observe safety precautions.
