Long queues for shoppers in Burgersfort

Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale warned shoppers to adhere to the Covid-19 regulations.

BURGERSFORT – Shoppers flocked to the town’s CBD to buy groceries and other necessities on Wednesday morning.

The Burgersfort town was packed.

Long queues were seen this morning at the Tubatse Crossing, Morone centre, Supa Save and Twin City Complex.
Readers also shared pictures of the queues on social media platforms.

Some shoppers say they were unable to settle their lay-by accounts since March due to the lockdown.

Long queues were spotted at Supa Save.

Level 4 regulations allow South Africans to visit their retail shops to buy enough clothes to fend off the winter season.

A high number of child support and foster care beneficiaries also descended the town.

Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale warned shoppers to adhere to the Covid-19 regulations.

” We are continuing to urge our people to adhere to the Disaster Management Act Regulations. Change of behavior among all South Africans is important and everyone should practice the following hygiene steps : Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizers for at least 20 seconds,always cover your nose and mouth with a mask or scarf when you are in a public places and keep social distancing. ”

Norman Kutama of SASSA in Limpopo has also called for patience.

“There is no need to rush. The grant beneficiaries can still do their shopping in the coming weeks.”
