SEKHUKHUNE-  The Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) has confirmed that an official in the office of mayor Stan  Ramaila has tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus.

This official is currently in self-isolation and is following Department of Health protocols.

This is the  first positive  case involving employees of the district municipality.

“Executive mayor Ramaila and the official who tested positive have not had close contact in recent times.

“But as a precautionary measure, Ramaila has tested, awaits the results and he’ll remain in isolation in the meantime,” said SDM’s spokesman Moloko Moloto.

He said other officials who have had close contact with the man  were tested by Health Department officials, immediately after the matter was brought to the attention of management.

“In addition, all municipal officials who’ve been physically reporting for duty at the headquarters will be tested.”
