Lydenburg completely barred off
Since 05:00 roads in and around town have been blocked off preventing any traffic coming in or going out of town.
Several images and information regarding the obstruction of the town’s roads have been shared on WhatsApp groups. In Lydenburg centre the situation was not any better with the main road (Voortrekker) being closed by two bakkies and a truck pulled across it.
Entrances that were affected included the Dullstroom interchange, the R37 Burgersfort Road, the R36 Ohrigstad Road, the R36 Badfontein Road and the main road leading to the R37 Long Tom Pass.

SAPS were informed of the blockaded roads and efforts to open them up again soon followed. Unfortunately as soon as a road was opened, it was simply blocked again.
At the moment, several roads are still being affected, but police and traffic are on the scene to assist motorists to pass on the shoulder where possible.
