Covid-19: Mpumalanga now has 24 405 confirmed cases of which 1 326 are active
South Africa has recorded 627 041 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Monday, August 31. A total of 24 405 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 22 738 recoveries and 341 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District
• Bushbuckridge: 696 cases, 646 recoveries and six deaths
• City of Mbombela: 4 069 cases, 3 736 recoveries and 26 deaths
• Nkomazi: 1 883 cases, 1 782 recoveries and six deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 356 cases and 334 recoveries and one death.
Gert Sibande District
• Chief Albert Luthuli: 661 cases, 620 recoveries and five deaths
• Dipaliseng: 330 cases and 318 recoveries and one death
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 869 cases, 798 recoveries and 14 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 337 cases, 3 132 recoveries and 28 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 060 cases, 959 recoveries and 55 deaths
• Mkhondo: 492 cases, 442 recoveries and 21 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 409 cases, 1 278 recoveries and 40 deaths.
Nkangala District
• Dr JS Moroka: 355 cases, 331 recoveries and seven deaths
• eMakhazeni: 382 cases and 334 recoveries and 12 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 078 cases, 4 838 recoveries and 48 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 384 cases, 2 193 recoveries and 43 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 606 cases, 572 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 438 cases and 425 recoveries and eight deaths.
