The Rest Nature Estate offers the perfect lifestyle
The Rest Nature Estate is located five minutes away from Mbombela's city centre. The elevated terrain offers magnificent views over the Lowveld mountains.

Originally the land belonged to the Nel family who founded Nelspruit and descendants of their family still live on the estate. In total approximately 1 200 residential stands ranging in size from 500 square metres up to 16 000 square metres are planned, divided into four phases located across the estate.
Find your perfect stand or home
Go to the Interactive Sales Map which will show the location, size and price of the stands that are for sale. The price is dependent on the size of the stand footprint, the location within the estate and the magnificent views and outlook of each and every stand.

The elevated terrain offers magnificent views over the city of Mbombela and the mountains beyond. For those buyers who do not wish to go through the building process themselves, a range of completed luxury villas are for sale with a number of three- and four-bedroom options.
Lifestyle within the estate
The Rest has undergone a major upgrade across all areas including security, infrastructure and amenities, in part due to a substantial capital investment from Sanlam Limited which took over ownership of the estate in 2013.

There is an extensive network of walking, mountain biking and jogging tracks throughout the estate, which are regularly maintained and being extended. Residents have exclusive access to the new floodlit tennis courts and pavilion at Curro Nelspruit after school hours.
A small gym is available for use by residents in the sales centre. A resident’s clubhouse is proposed in the future to incorporate recreation, sporting and entertainment facilities. The sports field has already been constructed and is open for ball games.
The surrounds
Mbombela is well positioned to meet the needs of its local population of 150 000 people as well as the whole Lowveld, including Mozambique, Swaziland, Barberton, White River and Hazyview. As a result, it has a number of excellent provincial schools and some of the best private schools in the country.

Modern health and hospital facilities as well as extensive shopping, sporting and entertainment amenities are available. Public and private health care is available from Mediclinic, which is situated three kilometres from The Rest. There are also several other private hospitals in the areas.
Most illnesses and emergencies can be dealt with in Mbombela. The city offers everything needed for modern living, including the Kruger National Park and Mozambique right on its doorstep.
Curro Nelspruit
The highly respected, private school, Curro Nelspruit, is situated at the main entrance to the estate, and caters for up to 1 250 pupils from nursery school to Grade 12. Children living at The Rest have secure and easy access to Curro Nelspruit without leaving the estate. The Rest maintains a close relationship with this school and supports it in many ways, including scholarships, sponsorships, prizes and equipment.

The school offers excellent education for both English and Afrikaans learners. Language mediums remain separated until the end of Grade 9. Matrics have the option of writing their IEB (Independent Examinations Board) exams in Afrikaans or English.
Sport and cultural activities are viewed as key to developing all-round balanced individuals and Curro Nelspruit provides an extensive extracurricular programme. Educational specialists and therapists are also available on campus.

Curro Nelspruit offers aftercare facilities and all pupils have access to the walking and mountain bike trails, along with the natural habitat at The Rest.
Birdlife
The birdlife at The Rest is spectacular and is best enjoyed from secluded bird hides that have been built at several of the picturesque watering holes around the estate, allowing nature lovers to discretely watch the birds in their natural habitat.

The Rest hosts several birdwatching events around the estate for residents. A sanctuary is being created to encourage more native bird species to return to the area and estate management is focused on removing alien trees and introducing more indigenous plants to the area.
As a corporate member of Birdlife SA, The Rest supports and works with Birdlife SA and the local birdwatching association, which monitors and documents the dozens of species on the estate. More than 190 bird species have been sighted within the estate to date.
Plant life
The Rest is home to a large array of flora and fauna, with each neighbourhood named after an African plant species. The region falls between “Lowveld Sour Bushveld” and “Lowveld”, bringing the best of the abundant plant life to your doorstep, including paperbark thorn, naboom, bushwillow, wild pear, broad-leaved coral, pepper bark, fever and stamvrug trees. Dominant grass species add to the diverse panorama of the landscape.

An architectural, landscaping and town planning company has played a significant role in the design and construction of the estate and manages the sustainable biodiversity of land use. Its responsibilities include the preservation of the wetlands and eco-interactive structures within the riparian wilderness zone, as well as landscaping of the main entrances, turning circles, open spaces and verges.
Wildlife
Small antelope are prevalent at The Rest, such as klipspringer, ateenbok, bushbuck, impala, and grey and red duiker. Sightings of serval cat, caracal cat and porcupines have been recorded and there are abundant reptiles and insect species, which form part of the biodiversity and healthy ecology of The Rest.

The Rest Nature Trust
The Trust is also responsible for overseeing the removal of alien vegetation and non-indigenous trees and plants. It recently introduced a small herd of impala into the estate in order to establish a small, biodiverse natural habitat.

The Rest Nature Estate and its residents are proud supporters of Arbour Week and to date residents have purchased 1 500 indigenous trees for their gardens. The efforts of both residents and estate management can be appreciated as the newly planted trees and shrubs flourish and contribute to The Rest Nature Estate being “the most beautiful and safest place to live in the Lowveld”!
Many of the species of indigenous trees that were planted were selected not only to improve the environment, but to attract more birdlife.
