Bergvlam team-building huge success
Hoërskool Bergvlam held its annual grade eight team building on Saturday March 6.

The 200 learners participated in eight activities, including a trolley race, water balloon fight and a scavenger hunt.
All activities were chosen to support social distancing. Usually the day would involve a sleepover, but due to Covid-19, the teachers decided to change the format so that the pupils could still enjoy themselves.
The grade eights were split into 16 teams, selected randomly, so that they could get to know their new classmates. Every team had to pick a theme and dress accordingly.
The Blue Flames’ white-and-blue attire won them the prize for the best-dressed. The Blue Flame Club is reserved for learners who achieve top marks, so it kept the tradition going. The Vipers took home the prize for the team of the day. The Sparkengers team had masks made with every member’s name embroidered on them.
Only three grade eights could not attend to function. “It shows that children need to be social and that a day like this means so much to them,” said Aletia du Toit, the grade head for this year’s grade eights. Du Toit organised the entire event and even participated in all the activities.
Individual prizes were won by Ronan Greyling (best manners), Sandile Ngonyama (the most photogenic) and Tenika Smith (Sparki of the day).
