Puma’s hooker and fly half shine in Currie Cup campaign

The NNC Pumas finished the 2021 Carling Currie Cup season in fifth place on the log, missing out on the semi-finals by one point.

The Mpumalanga team played their last match of the season against Griquas in Kimberley last Saturday. The teams played to a 13-13 draw.

The Pumas scored 274 points and conceded 256 during the Currie Cup season. They scored 33 tries and conceded 32.

Only the table-topping Vodacom Bulls and the second-placed Cell C Sharks conceded fewer tries.

The Pumas’ hooker, Simon Westraadt, finished the home/away round of the Currie Cup as joint top try scorer.
He and Western Province loose-forward Evan Roos have both scored eight.

Mpumalanga fly half Eddie Fouché is the top third points scorer of the competition with 107 points.

Tim Swiel of Western Province (144) and George Whitehead of Griquas (151) are the top two points scorers.

Westraadt is joint eighth on the top points scorers’ list with 40. He and Roos are the only forwards in the top 10.
