Two alleged poachers caught with firearms and ammunition at Skukuza
Two suspects were arrested on December 22 with unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park.
Esau Dlamini and Samson Maluleke were charged for possession of firearms and ammunition after being nabbed by field rangers on Wednesday December 22. Illegal firearms and ammunition were discovered in their possession.
On the day a field ranger received information regarding two suspicious individuals in the Pretoriaskop area in Shitlave Block.

The information was followed up, using a helicopter. The two were found in possession of a .375 hunting rifle with a magazine containing ammunition. A large hunting knife was also confiscated from the suspects.
Another bag containing live ammunition was also found in possession of the suspects. Members of the Stocktheft Unit of the SAPS were notified about the incident and a case was opened accordingly.

Dlamini and Maluleke appeared in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Thursday December 23, where their case was postponed to January 5, 2022 for further investigation.
The suspects were remanded in custody. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two are from Mozambique.
The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela welcomed the arrest of the suspects.
