Infrastructure improvement acknowledged in Komatipoort

Komatipoort Business Chamber acknowledged Nkomazi Local Municipality and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs' commitment to improve the infrastructure of the town.

The commitment Nkomazi Local Municipality and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs made to repair and improve the infrastructure of the town, has been acknowledged by the Komatipoort Business Chamber.

A business chamber member, Danie van Vuuren, remarked that it is the first time in 30 years that he had experienced a stop-and-go in town.

The residents expressed their delight in being able to see drastic measures being taken to repair the roads. According to the chamber, by now several streets including the main one has received attention.

The chamber soon met with the representatives of local organisations to address the other town challenges. Several community members expressed their thanks for the work done and these commitments.

The N4 congestion also received attention. Richard Williams, of the chamber, attended a meeting arranged and facilitated by KLCBT’s CEO Linda Grimbeek, pursuant to the crisis experienced yearly over Christmas and other peak seasons.

Grimbeek and Williams explained the crisis in detail with the heads of safety departments. The heads committed to render feedback. It is awaited and follow-up meetings will be held.

“Clearly the combination of these two government entities and the chamber renders results and contributes to better living and an enabling environment,” said Jan Engelbrecht of the chamber. Corridor Gazette will follow the progress and will keep the community informed.
