Dead end to cemetery almost a thing of the past

Repairs to the road leading to the Lowveld Crematorium and the cemetery has almost been completed and it is expected to be opened soon.

De Kock Street, which leads to both the cemetery and the crematorium, had been cordoned off in early January this year after a massive sinkhole along the entire width of the street, following a burst pipe.

When Lowvelder had visited the site a week ago, the sinkhole was still open, however, the pipe had been repaired.

Construction work on De Kock Street is ongoing but work is expected to be concluded in the next week.

The sinkhole has now been filled in and people will likely be able to access the road within the next week.

CoM’s spokesperson, Joseph Ngala, said that the repair work could not start immediately due the persistent rain.

Access to the cemetary and Lowveld Crematorium via De Kock Street is expected soon.
