Mrs Mpumalanga 2022 shares her journey to the crown
Juanry Crous was announced Mrs Mpumalanga 2022 on February 27. Crous shared her story on her journey to being crowned with Lowvelder.
The newly crowned Mrs Mpumalanga 2022, Juanry Crous, is ready to start making a difference in the community just weeks after her crowning. Crous was announced as Mrs Mpumalanga 2022 on February 27, at a lavish crowning ceremony at the Communio Church in Mbombela.
This White River local said she was completely shocked when she learned she had won the prestigious title, as she had not expected to. “The Friday before the crowning, all the candidates were interviewed, and I really thought my interview did not go that well,” said Crous.
“The competition was really tough. I met really amazing women during this journey to becoming Mrs Mpumalanga. These women were first like friends, but now they are more like my sisters, and I will cherish them forever.”

Crous said it was her first time entering Mrs Mpumalanga or any pageant-style competition, but she was inspired to do so after encouragement from a friend who had previously entered in 2020. “She was such an inspiration for me, helping the community, and I also wanted to use the Mrs Mpumalanga brand to make a difference in ours,” she said.
When asked what the motivating factor behind her journey was, Crous stated there was not only one, but a few people to thank.

“My husband really was my rock during this process. Whenever I thought I just was not going to make it, he was right there, encouraging me to keep at it.
“Sade Meyer was one of the people who really supported and helped me behind the scenes.”
Crous said another one of her major motivations was helping and advocating for disadvantaged and vulnerable children within the community.
“Chair of Hope and I are planning on teaching 20 children the skill of carpentry. They will be making a wingback chair, and this will be donated to oncology for patients to use during chemotherapy.”

She said this was just one of a few projects she would be working on to give back to the community, particularly the children and young mothers.

“I have learned that there is hope for every single person out there through my journey with the brand,” said Crous. “You can make a change and be the change. I have learned that the clouds are your limit if you just think out of the box and take some initiative. Get people to believe in you and run with it. You are worthy to conquer your dreams.”
