Veronica has a New York dream, help her realise it

Veronica de Vasconcelos is one of six Lowvelders who will experience the opportunity of a lifetime when she showcases her talents in New York.

A lucky few Lowveld talents have the opportunity of a lifetime coming up in July – the IMTA 2022 New York. Veronica de Vasconcelos is one of them.

The convention, hosted by the IMTA (International Modeling and Talent Association), will consist of 10 days of competitions across various sections, including modelling, acting, dancing and singing.

This opportunity comes once a year and gives hopeful young models, actors, singers and dancers the opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage with over 300 scouts keeping an eye out for the next big thing.

With an opportunity like this comes a substantial cost, however. Should you wish to get involved in funding this amazing journey for these talented locals, contact Ilze van der Merwe at Ramps-to-Runway Nelspruit at nelspruit@ramps-to-runway.com or on 082 920 2031.

Photogenic is only one of the many words that can be used to describe Veronica (17).

This dynamic young Lowveld talent has had her sights set on modeling since her pre-teens, and New York is the next step in getting there.

“I’m going into this with an open mind and I’m not going to go there expecting to get a call-back. Even if do not get one, we are going to have all of this in our portfolio.”

She will be focusing on the modelling as well as the acting sections at the convention.  Even though it was her parents who initially enrolled her in modelling classes, she said she loved it from the start. “I remember watching fashion week shows when I was was younger and thinking, ‘I want to be that girl. It looks so fierce and powerful.’”

Being in Grade 10 right now, she is dealing with some exam stress as well as the pressure of preparing herself for New York, but her support systems are carrying her through.

She has been visiting her family in Portugal since a young age. She really enjoys travelling and spending time with her family. “Family is very important to me.”
