A good deed goes a long way among Hazyview friends

Thulani Shabangu of Nyongane Trust went the extra mile for his friend in Hazyview, Bheki Ndlovu, who desperately needed a new wheelchair.

With the help of Ligwalagwala FM and a Good Samaritan, Ralph Mphangane Kamarongwane, a new wheelchair was donated to Ndlovu on March 4.

Ndlovu had no money for one and could not afford to fix the broken one he had used for years. “Having a broken wheelchair that cannot fold up caused many problems for Bheki. Taxi drivers always refused to stop for him and when they did, they got aggressive for having to deal with him,” said Shabangu.

Kamarongwane and Shabangu surprised Ndlovu when he was invited to the taxi rank in town to receive his brand-new foldable wheelchair. “When we all face the worst or think there will be no solution to an inescapable detour to your life’s journey, you get people like Shabangu and Kamarongwane who save our last bit of hope,” said Ndlovu.

After helping him overcome his biggest obstacle, Shabangu said he woke up to a calling from an old dream – to start his own foundation to help out the desperate. “My dream is to have my own foundation to help all those who cannot help themselves. Thulani Shabangu Enyongane Foundation will be sure to operate in Hazyview soon,” he said.
