Can-Do Cook-Off fills Hazyview with flavours

The Lowveld Mall collaborated with RFG brands, Indlovu SPAR and Cash Crusaders to host a weekly cook-off in which locals showcased their cooking skills.

The competition was running on the mall’s Facebook page and finalists were chosen to cook off against one another.

The first round of the Can-Do Cook-Off cooking competition, where locals from Hazyview faced one another to see who could make the best meal out of canned food, started on February 26, with the second round on March 5 and the finale on March 12.

The cook-off was organised to bring something new to the shopping centre, where the mall interacted with their shoppers and fans while bringing brand awareness to the tenants and RFG brands.

In the final cook-off on Saturday, Ayanda Jele and Tinyiko Sithole faced it off and Sithole was crowned the champion.

The sponsors of the event made sure each contestant receive RFG brands hampers and the wooden Cook-Off spoon as a participating trophy.

The shoppers felt recognised to have a live competition as they can usually just watch the cook-off competitions on TV,” said the Lowveld Mall’s marketing manager, Tania Manjate.
