Constant power outages continue to plague residents of Steiltes, Mbombela

Electricians are currently at the Delta Substation trying to restore power to Valencia and Steiltes.

Electricity failure continues to be a major problem in Mbombela, especially in the Delta area, where there no day goes by without power outages. Residents in the affected area expressed their dissatisfaction on social media about the ongoing power failures within the city. Antoinette Hammond said, “What I cannot understand is why, always on a Friday or Saturday morning, the power goes out. If it is not a monkey trying to commit suicide or bad weather on the horizon, the substation crashes,” she said.

Neil Markgraaff said, “Also, now and on Sunday, it’s a regular thing. But the taxpayer must just pay and pay, and now prices just keep on increasing. Our government and all majors are sitting comfortably and enjoying their salaries. Viva, ANC government ruled by the most incompetent individuals.” Derica Reniers said, “Please don’t say three to four hours when you’re not sure. Ask the technicians. Otherwise, it could be 10 hours, as has happened previously. We need to make alternate arrangements, so if you say three to four hours, then that’s what it has to be. The technicians should by now have established the problem and know how long the repairs will take. Take note that two hours have already passed!”   ALSO

The City of Mbombela’s spokesperson, Joseph Ngala, said they are working around the clock to restore electricity at the Steiltes and Valencia substations after they had had an electrical fault. “Our electricians are currently at the substation to fix the problem. Steiltes’ estimate time is two hours and Valencia’s an estimated three to four. So the residents can expect power to be restored at around 16:00 to 17:30. We are pleading with our communities to be patient with us while we fix the problem,” he said. He also said that residents within the city must expect electricity interruptions on Sunday April 3, due to major repairs of the 3 000-volt equipment.
