Arrest successes for Limpopo Highway Patrol

The Limpopo Highway Patrol team continues to assist in the fight against crime.

The team was responsible for the arrests of 1 251 suspects aged between 18 and 48 for cases ranging from murder, attempted murder, robberies, rape, to burglaries, stock theft, theft of motor vehicle and fraud.

The arrests were made during the operations that were conducted from March 28 to April 4.

In Tubatse the members arrested two
suspects, aged 34 and 41, who were driving two trucks loaded with chrome.

“The men were arrested on April 4 along the R37 at Ga-Mathipa Village, for possession of chrome with an estimated value of R80 000 per truck. Both drivers failed to produce legal documents for being in possession of the precious minerals,” said the Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, Col Mamphaswa Seabi.

He said the two drivers are scheduled to
appear in the Mecklenburg Magistrate’s
Court this week.

The acting provincial commissioner, Maj Gen Jan Scheepers, has praised the
team for continuously arresting criminals
to ensure the safety of all communities
across the province.
