Locals enjoy rugby club fundraiser

The LowMed Hazyview Rugby Club hosted a fundraising event during which locals from the small town enjoyed a sokkie and braai night at the Hazyview Airfield on Saturday April 2.

The club management organised the event for the community to support their town’s rugby club and to have fun. More than 80 people, among others the rugby players with their families and friends, former rugby players and sponsors, attended the function at one of the airfield hangars. People had to pay R150 and could bring their own beverages and drinks, as braai packs and side dishes were sponsored.

“We know the town’s people love a decent braai and music to dance to, so we brought it all under one roof,” said Kitty le Grange, one of the organisers. De Rust Butchery sponsored the braai packs and Numbi Hotel organised the tables and chairs. “We are grateful to all our sponsors who helped us organise this fundraiser, especially Deon van der Ploeg, who provided this venue where everyone had fun.”

The rugby club plans on having regular fundraising events after the success of Saturday’s dancing and feasting. “It was an extremely successful evening and we could not be more grateful for the support. We promise to host another event like this when our supporters can come together and enjoy times of dancing, eating and enjoying one another’s company,” said Le Grange.
