Hazyview Rugby Club get ready for season

LowMed Hazyview Rugby Club started their season at the Malelane Rugby Club weekend on March 25 and 26.

Malelane Rugby Club hosted a weekend full of action-packed rugby where LowMed Hazyview Rugby Club could test their team for the season to come. It was the seventh annual edition of the rugby weekend since 2015, in which rugby clubs had the privilege to entertain players and the public once again.

Various clubs from the Onderberg, Lowveld, Middelburg and Rustenburg and one from Mozambique partici-pated in the rugby weekend. Multiple friendly matches were played as the teams challenged one another in preparation for the rugby season.

Spectators were allowed to enjoy live games, braais and social fun among friends and family. It has been more than two years since the last time this was allowed. Big crowds were welcomed to attend.

LowMed Hazyview played against Rustenburg Rugby Academy in one of the nine games over the weekend and ended up in a draw of 14 each.

“We ended up in a draw, but we feel it was a good way to show us what we are working with for the upcoming season ahead. I am excited for this year’s players and we hope to bring the rugby spirit back to Hazyview,” said Hazyview team’s coach, Manie van Wyk. The club will officially start their rugby league on May 7 against Matsulu.
