Lowveld golfers enjoy beautiful Skukuza Open Tournament

The Kruger Park had golfers from all over the Lowveld participate in the 36-hole Skukuza Open Tournament on March 19.

Numerous club golfers spent their Saturday on the beautiful course.

The tournament saw 48 competitors who nearly occupied the entire golf course.  The gross winner of the day was Jaco van der Watt of White River Country Club, who scored a total of 146,72 in the first 18 and 74 in the second.

The gross runner-up was Ruan van der Blerk of White River Country Club, who was one shot behind lead scoring a total of 147,74 in the first 18 and 73 in the second. Jean Rossouw, who represented the hosting club as club captain, came in third scoring a total of 149,77 in the first 18 and 72 in the second. The awarded players received sponsored golf equipment as prizes.

“We say thank you to all the golfers from the Lowveld who took on the open challenge at Skukuza Golf Club. The course welcomed the players with smooth fairways and clean greens and getting positive feedback from the participators is always a win in our books,” said Rossouw.

The club is preparing for the Joke of the Lowveld Tournament from May 10 to 14. “This annual event has been running for more than 40 years, so we are excited welcoming all players and sponsors back after the long wait,” Rossouw said.
