Minibus driver with 14 bags of dagga worth R750 000 arrested
A driver of a minibus, aged 42, was arrested on Saturday morning, April 9 outside Malalane for being in possession of 500 kilograms of dagga.
Members of the local police were applauded by the provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela, for their vigilance and alertness, which enabled them to locate a large amount of dagga stashed in 14 bags being transported in a minibus on the N4.
According to the report, the SAPS members were conducting a sting operation on the N4 about five kilometres away from the Malalane CBD. A white Toyota Quantum with only the driver was spotted and stopped. During the search, the police discovered the bags of dagga weighing about 500 kilograms, to the estimated street value of about R750 000.

The man was apprehended and charged with dealing in dagga.
He is expected to appear in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga to face charges. Manamela further indicated that the police are ever-ready to remove all types of drugs from society. “The public should expect more of these kinds of operations as we approach the Easter holidays. We will intensify our efforts while we clamp down on crime. We shall leave no stone unturned,” she said.
