Lalapalm Tournament has country’s golfers eager at Malalane

The 38th Lalapalm Tournament had golfers excited for the four-day challenge at Malelane Golf Club from April 13 to 16.

For 38 years, Malelane Golf Club has been dedicated to hosting one of the Lowveld’s best annual golf tournaments, the Lalapalm.

This four-day golfing tournament has proven to be one of the Lowveld’s main drawcards time and time again.  The tournament attracted amateur players from all over South Africa.

The golf committee sprang into action with all the preparation needed to make this four-day event a success.  An exceptional job was done out on the course, as getting it into top shape and fit for players to enjoy was a priority.

The field was filled to capacity and consisted of two playing fields, a morning and an afternoon field, where roughly 98 players were on the course every day.

On the first day, the format was bonus bogey, on the second day it was individual Stableford, on the third way the format was better ball scramble drive and on day four the players played a medal format. Throughout the four days, players earn points and the overall winners were determined on their points accumulated.

The overall winner of the Lalapalm Tournament was David Moore with a score of 104.  Eddie Wilken was overall runner-up with his score of 102 and George Muller in third place with his score of 98.

Neil Schoeman was the junior winner of the tournament with Nina Schoeman as runner-up.
