Three lives were lost on D2296 road in Mbombela

Emergency services and police are currently on scene to monitor the situation.

Three people were killed this afternoon when three vehicles were involved in a head-on and side-swipe collision on D2296 near the University of Mpumalanga turnoff top Karino.

The spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mmusi Moeti, said  The vehicles involved included two VW Polo hatchbacks and a Ford Ranger.

 

Motorists travelling on the D2296 between KaMagugu and the Karino four-way stop are advised to use alternative routes to and from KaNyamazane and surrounding areas.

Two occupants in the Ranger escaped with slight injuries. Although an investigation is underway, reckless driving is suspected to have caused the crash.
