Burgersfort SAPS gives back

Mboyi applauded everyone who had spent sleepless nights working around the clock to assist these learners.

STEELPOORT – The Burgersfort SAPS continues to assist the needy and vulnerable.

The men and women in blue handed school uniforms to some of the learners of Maelebe Primary School on July 28.

The handover was attended by the Burgersfort SAPS station commander, Brigadier Mmatshaba Augustine Mboyi, Ngwaabe circuit manager, Madikgwadi Masha, the school management team, pastors against crime and parents.

When outlining the background and the purpose of the visit, Sergeant Victoria Maluleke, the spokesperson of Burgersfort SAPS, said they saw a need to assist learners who cannot afford school uniforms.

More than 10 identified learners received uniforms from SAPS management, including shoes, shirts, trousers, skirts, socks, ties and jerseys.

Mboyi applauded everyone who had spent sleepless nights working around the clock to assist these learners.

She said police officers are part of the community and have a positive role to play in society.

“The police did not hand over the uniforms to learners because they are better or they want to make a show, but it is because of the experience that some of them went through in the past years.”

Mboyi said, “This has prompted the police to take action to make a difference in order to prevent a situation whereby children are lured to commit crime just because of poverty.”
