St Thomas matrics enjoy glorious farewell

BURGERSFORT – Not even the busy traffic in town could stop St Thomas pupils from celebrating their matric dance.
The class of 2022 celebrated their matric farewell in style.
The event was at the magnificent Lapeng Lodge last Friday. The debs ball as it is known, was
attended by more than 90 pupils who arrived with their partners. Teachers and the school management team were also present, acting as father figures for the Grade 12s.
It seemed as if the day had been planned years back. Some of them divulged to Steelburger/Lydenburg News that they had spent more than R5 000 on their outfits.

The young ladies were elegantly clad in fancy evening dresses, complemented by their stilettos and their hairstyles were out of this world.
The young gents donned tuxedos and luxurious designer suits.
Teachers were also dressed to kill. Although some of them were without partners, they were still thrilled by
the occasion. The pupils were given opportunity to parade. The best-dressed matrics were chosen on the night.
Talented singers from the class performed songs to cheer their peers.

Representing the pupils was Balokile Thubakgale. She said they were prepared to achieve a 100% matric pass rate.
“We are chasing a 100% bachelor’s pass. Let’s work like slaves in order to live like kings.”
St Thomas’ principal, TGK John, said, “This school always pulls out all the stops to send pupils off in dazzling style. We are still encouraging you to study hard. The school is once again gunning for a 100% bachelor pass rate.”
John reminded the pupils to fly the St Thomas flag high at tertiary institutions.

“Even when at varsity you are still representing the college. I want you to be on your best behaviour to achieve all
your goals.”
After the glamorous ceremony and the formalities, the matrics enjoyed a delicious supper before dancing the night away.
