Birthday blood drive at Crossing Centre Nelspruit reaches target

Fifty units of blood for a 50th birthday - that was the motivation behind a recent blood drive held at Mbombela's Crossing Centre.

Fifty units was the goal, and with the support of the community, this was achieved.

On September 7, a blood drive was hosted at the Crossing Centre, primarily to save lives, but also as a way for Anita McGarry of the centre’s management team to give back to the community and celebrate her 50th birthday at the same time.

By midday, the SANBS team had almost reached the goal set for the day, and by the end they surpassed it by three units. Relebohile Matsimbi, the donor relations practitioner for the SANBS, confirmed they had managed to get 53 units.
