Eleven people injured in two accidents on N4 in Nkomazi

Ten passengers were travelling in a minibus when it collided head-on with a BMW.

Eleven people sustained serious injuries in two separate accidents on the N4 between Hectorspruit and Malalane on February 1.
The acting spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Zandile Mavuso, said the first crash occurred between Hectorspruit and Impala at around 03:00 when two articulated trucks were involved in a head-to-rear collision.
“The truck in front then collided with a bakkie. The driver of the truck that had crashed into the rear of the other truck was seriously injured,” she said.

According to Mavuso, the second accident occurred at about 09:30 between the Nkomazi Toll Plaza and Malalane.
“A minibus taxi and a BMW sedan collided head-on. A Nissan Xtrail was also involved. Ten people, including the driver of the minibus, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The BMW driver escaped with only light ones.”

Motorists were once again urged to be cautious when driving, as the Lowveld is experiencing heavy rain. They should keep their headlights on, reduce speed and keep a proper following distance.
