N4 open for travel after rockfalls

TRAC has confirmed that both parts of the N4 are now open again.

Following a clean-up for a large part of today, February 12, the most recent update received from the TRAC N4 help desk is that the N4 is open at both Elands Valley and Schoemanskloof, said TRAC’s spokesperson, Solange Soares. This comes after rockfalls in these areas due to heavy rainfall.

Soares said it is partially open on both these routes with contraflow systems in place for both.

“Traffic is flowing, albeit slower than usual given the contraflow, but it is flowing.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to road users and thank them for their patience as well as their understanding regarding the situation.”
