Motorists warned of heavy traffic on N4

Traffic heading in the direction of Pretoria on the N4 is moving slow at this stage.

Traffic along the N4, heading in the direction of Gauteng, is causing delays.

TRAC warned that traffic is congested from the N4 Schagen turn-off to Montrose. Officials are conducting point duty at Montrose as a result of construction.

According to TRAC’s spokesperson, Solange Soares, the delays currently being experienced are purely due to excessive high traffic volumes. Certain areas can only accommodate so many vehicles at a time, especially where there are traffic management elements in place; the same applies to the plaza areas.

Prior to Easter weekend, TRAC communicated the systems it would have in place and also warned road users about construction sites and where they could expect delays.

The statement read: “All roadworks will be suspended over the long weekend. However, construction sites will still be deemed active. Traffic calming measures will be in place at Montrose, and lane restrictions will be in effect between Malalane and the TSB turn-off to accommodate roadworks in these areas. Road users are urged to be cautious and observe related signage when travelling through there.”
