Two accused of shooting 11-year-old remain in custody in White River
The two men appeared in the White River Magistrate's Court and have been remanded in custody until their next appearance for further bail information.
The two men accused of being involved in the shooting of an 11-year-old girl last week remain behind bars.
Lourens de Bruyn (39) and Pieter Kruger (62) both appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and the discharging of a firearm in a built-up area or public place.

The charges follow an incident in which an 11-year-old girl, who was travelling with her family in a Mercedes-Benz Viano, was shot in the back on the R537 near White River Crossing last Monday, April 10.

De Bruyn and Kruger made their first appearance in court on Wednesday April 12, and were remanded in custody for a further bail hearing on Monday April 17.

Mpumalanga’s National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Monica Nyuswa, said the matter was postponed to Monday April 24 for further bail information, and that De Bruyn and Kruger are still in custody.
The victim’s father did not wish to comment any further on his daughter’s condition.
