GEPF brings services closer to its members in the Fetakgomo Tubatse
The primary purposes of the event were to share information about the fund’s benefits, render services and resolve pension related queries on the spot.
Elderly citizens were assisted with their queries and challenges in relation to pensions on May 13 at Ga Mashamothane outside Burgersfort.
The event was held at Mosebu Primary School from 08:00 until 16:00 .
The local village was abuzz with Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) activities, as the fund hosted a service delivery campaign to render pension-related services to its members, pensioners and beneficiaries in Burgersfort and the surrounding areas.
The campaign, dubbed GEPF Day, forms part of the fund’s nationwide service delivery initiatives.
The primary purposes of the event were to share information about the fund’s benefits, render services and resolve pension related queries on the spot.
The GEPF is committed to continue bringing its services closer to its members, pensioners and beneficiaries through the roadshow and events like the one it hosted in Mashamothane.
“The biggest challenge that the fund is currently confronted with is the rising number of GEPF unclaimed benefits cases. Through awareness campaigns such as this one the fund aims to considerably reduce these unclaimed benefits cases, while simultaneously curbing the recurrence and prevalence of the challenge.

“It was also aimed at safeguarding the financial interests of GEPF members who often get swindled by unscrupulous financial advisers who prey on unsuspecting beneficiaries. Self-proclaimed ‘brokers’ falsely claim to be representatives of the GEPF and offer to speed-up claims processes while demanding a service fee whereas the fund’s services are by law offered for free,” said GEPF spokesperson, Mashao Mohale. According to Mohale, GEPF Day roadshows are expected to continue all over the country.
