Join group to keep mentally fit in Lydenburg
A free support group for mental well-being has been gaining momentum.
Laara Davey and Annette Rossouw are passionate about this subject and are inviting interested residents to join the group every Thursday between 16:00 and 17:00 at the Jam Jar Restaurant, Church Street.
Rossouw is a registered counsellor at the Association of Supportive Counsellors and Health Practitioners and the sessions are in accordance with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group’s guidelines.

Davey is a life coach at Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (Comensa). This organisation is playing an increasingly important role in empowering future generations to realise their full potential.
“We know that there are a lot of people who feel they don’t have the mental health support they need at home. The issues we discuss will depend on the needs of the group. And a private session will be arranged if it is a sensitive subject the person wants to keep private. Panic and anxiety attacks, as well as trauma, are some of the topics we want to help the community with. These sessions are free. We want to erase the stigma surrounding mental illness and make people feel welcome to discuss their problems in a non-judgemental setting. Members of the support group share their thoughts and feelings and learn from other members, while everyone shares their life experiences,” said Rossouw.
