CPF and role players reach out to Mbombela homeless

In an effort to discourage crime in Mbombela, an outreach was undertaken to some of the city's homeless.

The Nelspruit CPF, ACS Spartan, Nelspruit Concerned Citizens, AfriForum and volunteers participated in an outreach on June 11 to feed some local homeless persons in the CBD.

Produce to make the soup was donated by a farmer who wanted to stay anonymous. The outreach started at 18:00 at ACS Spartan offices where volunteers divided into four teams equipped with cups, soup and bread.

The organisers said it is difficult to make a difference with one attempt, but statistics show that 80% of petty crime in town is due to desperate people not having food to eat and who will do anything to make ends meet. At about 19:30 the four groups met up again to debrief and exchange stories about all the thankful, appreciative faces.

The Nelspruit CPF executive committee thanked everyone who assisted with sponsorship for the evening as well as each and every person who was there to support this effort. The committee said it hopes to do more of these initiatives in the future.
