Motorcycle catches fire in Sonpark accident

A delivery motorcycle caught fire at the Sonpark intersection today, August 18, following a collision with another vehicle.

According to Frank Swanepoel of Hi-Tech Security, their ambulance had responded to the scene of the crash. “The motorcycle rider was injured to such an extent [unconscious] that the Hi-Tech ambulance transported him to Rob Ferreira Hospital.”

The extent of his injuries is still unknown, as is the cause of the accident.

According to the timestamp on a photograph taken at the scene, the motorcycle had still been on fire at 10:32. The fire department as well as law enforcement were on scene. The road has since been cleared.
